Sonprayag is located at the confluence of the Mandakini and Basuki rivers and serves as a major transit point for pilgrims heading toward Kedarnath. Vehicles generally proceed up to the designated route limits, after which pilgrims continue their journey toward Gaurikund and Kedarnath.
