Yamunotri:

Best Time to Visit:

The Char Dham Yatra usually takes place during the summer months, from April to November, as the temples are closed due to heavy snowfall and unreachable roads.

Day 1 :

Haridwar to Barkot via Mussoorie

Distance: Haridwar to Mussoorie (95 km, approx. 2.5–3 hours) → Mussoorie to Barkot (80-90 km, approx. 3.5-4 hours)

Activities:

Depart from Haridwar early morning and drive to Mussoorie. Enjoy the beautiful views of the hills, visit Kempty Falls, and the Mall Road.

Continue your journey to Barkot.

Stay: Check into a hotel in Barkot. Have dinner and relax for the night.

Day 2 :

Barkot to Yamunotri (Janki Chatti) – Trek to Yamunotri

Distance: Barkot to Janki Chatti (40-45 km, approx. 1.5-2 hours by road) → Trek to Yamunotri (5 km, approx. 2-3 hours one way)
Activities:
- After breakfast, drive to Janki Chatti, the starting point for the trek to Yamunotri Temple.
- Trek to Yamunotri: A 5 km trek uphill to the temple, one of the Char Dham shrines.
- After visiting the temple and the hot springs, return to Janki Chatti.
Stay: Drive back to Barkot. Check into your hotel, have dinner, and relax for the night.

Day 3 :

Barkot to Uttarkashi

Distance: Barkot to Uttarkashi (80-90 km, approx. 3–4 hours)
Activities:
- After breakfast, drive to Uttarkashi, a town on the banks of the Bhagirathi River.
- You can visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple or simply relax in the beautiful surroundings of Uttarkashi.
Stay: Check into a hotel in Uttarkashi. Have dinner and rest for the night.

Day 4 :

Uttarkashi to Gangotri

Distance: Uttarkashi to Gangotri (100 km, approx. 4–5 hours)
Activities:
- After breakfast, drive to Gangotri, the source of the sacred River Ganga.
- Visit Gangotri Temple and the surrounding areas.
- After darshan, return to Uttarkashi.
Stay: Check into your hotel in Uttarkashi. Have dinner and relax.

Day 5 :

Uttarkashi to Sonprayag/Guptkashi

Distance: Uttarkashi to Sonprayag/Guptkashi (230-240 km, approx. 8–9 hours)
Activities:
- After breakfast, drive to Sonprayag or Guptkashi, which are the base for Kedarnath trek.
- You may also visit Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary on the way.
Stay: Check into your hotel, have dinner, and rest.

Day 6 :

Sonprayag/Guptkashi to Gaurikund – Trek to Kedarnath

Distance: Sonprayag/Guptkashi to Gaurikund (7–8 km, approx. 45 min-1 hour)
Trek:
- After breakfast, drive to Gaurikund, the base for the Kedarnath Trek (17-18 km trek).
- Begin your trek to Kedarnath early, and reach the Kedarnath Temple by evening.
Stay: Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

Day 7 :

Kedarnath Darshan – Return to Gaurikund

Activities:
- After early morning darshan at Kedarnath Temple, you can explore the temple area or enjoy the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains.
- Also visit Bhairav Temple.
- In the afternoon, trek back down to Gaurikund.
Stay: Drive back to Sonprayag/Guptkashi for the night. Check into the hotel, have dinner, and rest.

Day 8 :

Sonprayag/Guptkashi to Joshimath

Distance: Sonprayag/Guptkashi to Joshimath (180-190 kms, approx. 7–8 hours)
Activities:
- After breakfast, drive to Joshimath. On the way, enjoy beautiful views of the hills, rivers, and valleys.
- In Joshimath, you can explore Narsingh Temple.
Stay: Check into your hotel in Joshimath, enjoy a nice dinner, and relax.

Day 9 :

Joshimath to Badrinath – Return to Joshimath

Distance: Joshimath to Badrinath (45 km, approx. 2–2.5 hours)
Activities:
- After breakfast, drive to Badrinath, one of the Char Dham shrines.
- Visit the Badrinath Temple, and explore the surrounding areas.
- Return to Joshimath by afternoon or evening.

Day 10 :

Joshimath to Haridwar – Departure

Distance: Joshimath to Haridwar (280 km, approx. 9–10 hours)
Activities:
- After breakfast, start your drive back to Haridwar.
- Enjoy the scenic views and stop for breaks on the way. Visit the small villages and holy places as you pass through.
